Guest Talk

Today I had the pleasure of being asked to do a guest talk back at Winchester School of Art - I had the impossibly large shoes to of Peter Kennard to fill, who had to reschedule at the last minute through illness.

So, after hastily putting together a slideshow of my work, as well as timely advice for Final Major Projects and applying for MA’s, I crossed my fingers and desperately hoped I’d be able to fill an hour’s worth of time…

As with all these things, I rambled on for more than enough and had to rush the end a little… Hopefully the current students got something out of it – I thank them for not grilling me too intensely as I’m a total newcomer to the ‘lecturing’ game. I was only sitting in the very same hall about 18 months ago, so it was a little surreal to be down at the front this time, but it was great to be asked and a really decent experience to get under my belt.

MA Photography, LCC

In January I shall be starting a two-year, part-time Masters in Photography at the LCC, and I’m very much looking forward to it.

Downturn (revisited)

I’ve been spending some time scanning some old negs recently, and came across a few shots I’d totally forgotten about – a couple of which may make it into the Downturn edit so far…

New Toy

Got my hands on a beautiful Horseman 45FA from eBay the other day.

Just need a lens now.

(And to win the lottery to be able to afford some film.)

Ummm… No.

I spotted this incredibly deluded piece of ‘journalism’ in the Mirror yesterday.

“I blame the pernicious culture of hatred around rap music, which glorifies violence and loathing of authority (especially the police but including parents), exalts trashy materialism and raves about drugs.”

I can’t believe that Neolithic arguments like this are still being peddled out in this day and age by mainstream media. Actually, I can. This was the Mirror, after all.

Stand Your Ground

Yet another video showing how difficult it can be to exercise your legal rights on a London street.
Respect to the guys and girls over at Shootexperience.com for putting this together.

Ramblings

I’ve just added some self-indulgent ramblings to table forty-one, if you’re into that kinda thing…
